Cyber Defense in the Context of the New NATO Strategic Concept
Aspen Institute Romania, in partnership with the NATO Public Diplomacy Division, is pleased to announce the international conference: "Cyber Defense in the Context of the New NATO Strategic Concept" organised on June 2, 2010 in Bucharest.
Aspen Romania is organizing this event with the objective of creating an informed and meaningful dialogue among critical stake-holders in the public, business, and academic circles, on the upcoming new NATO strategic concept. As NATO is undergoing a comprehensive process of self redefinition and adjustment to new realities, Romania is simultaneously contributing to this effort and identifying its own strategic priorities and interests, in particular with a view to areas where it can be a key contributor to the Alliance. In this respect Aspen Institute Romania is proposing a series of activities in the field of foreign policy, designed around two core areas: national interest and integrated security.
The permanently increasing dependence of modern society on the internet, telecommunications networks and computer systems generates new associated vulnerabilities, which makes it possible for an attack on one network to have a dangerous multiplier effect at a relatively low cost for the perpetrator and to threaten directly the everyday life of regular citizens. Romanian authorities, together with NATO and other allied government institutions, the think tank and academic sector as well as competent private corporations have made an important contribution to the overall debate on the scope, objectives and means of NATO cyber defense policy, meant to enhance coordination and effectiveness. This is however an ongoing process.
Faithful to its mission of facilitating non-partisan, balanced debates around critical issues, the Aspen Institute Romania plans on raising the awareness among stakeholders and the general public of this complex national effort as well as mobilizing the energies of all potential contributors to this end. The discussions will be centered on interventions from key figures from the business community, government, academia and NGOs. In line with the Aspen tradition, our discussions will have an informal character and opinions expressed during the discussion will be off-the-record. In urma perchezitiilor au fost retinute 50 de persoane.
Potrivit unui comunicat al DIICOT, Oproiu N. a detinut, a utilizat si a comercializat, direct si prin intermediul retelei Internet, produse software destinate interceptarii ilegale a comunicatiilor, transmisiilor de date efectuate prin intermediul terminalelor de telefonie mobila, precum si a discutiilor ambientale, programul fiind compatibil cu aproape toate dispozitivele care folosesc un sistem de operare de tipul Symbian sau Windows Mobile, inclusiv cu cele tip BlackBerry sau iPhone.
Cei mai multi beneficiari ai sistemului sunt din Capitala.
Aplicatia confera utilizatorului posibilitatea monitorizarii comunicatiilor si discutiilor ambientale purtate de la terminalele vizate, precum si a transferului neautorizat de date din sisteme informatice, putand avea implicatii grave asupra sigurantei nationale, vietii de familie, a mediului concurential si de afaceri.
Potrivit primelor informatii, programul de spionaj era primit din Thailanda.
Deschinderile au avut loc in Iasi, Mehedinti, Timis, Bacau, Suceava, Arges, Alba, Satu Mare, Buzau, Arad, Sibiu, Galati, Neamt, Ialomita, Solj, Valcea, Botosani, Cluj, Hunedoara, Ilfov si Bucuresti.
